4 steps to configure Easykon Lite for MyHome on your Raspberry Pi

Easykon Lite for MyHome is a software for Raspberry Pi which, without working on the electrical panel or the plant, allows you to manage with Google and Amazon Alexa Apps and voice control and with IFTTT platform every MyHome BTicino system realised since 2000.

Software download

You can download Easykon Lite for MyHome software directly from Freedompro website. The download is free of charge and you will be able to use our product on your MyHome system for 7 days without any other cost.

What can I do to use the software after the 7 free days?

To download the software needed for the installation:
  1. Go to the product page
  2. Click on “Download” and fill the form
  3. You will be redirected to a page with the download link, select the version that best suits your installation

In the page you will find 3 download links, one for each Raspberry Pi model supported from Easykon Lite for MyHome. Choose the one created for the hardware you want to use.

To check the model of the Raspberry Pi you are using, look at the device, you will find a white inscription on the green electrical board.

Which Raspberry Pi models are supported?

To continue with Easykon Lite for MyHome installation on Raspberry Pi you need a software to write the product file in a micro SD card.

Great, now you have all you need to proceed to the Raspberry Pi installation.

Installation

Requirements:

  • Easykon Lite for MyHome software in the correct version for the Raspberry Pi model you want to use
  • Writing SD card software
  • Supported Raspberry Pi
  • Power supply compatible with the Raspberry Pi model you want to use
  • Micro SD card with at least 4 GB storage
  • Computer with reader to write the micro SD card (if the computer does not have it, it is necessary also an external reader and/or an adapter)
  • Ethernet cable with RJ-45 connector to connect to the local network (LAN)
To install Easykon Lite for MyHome on Raspberry Pi:
  1. Connect the micro SD reader to the PC (if it is necessary use the adapter) and insert the card you want to use
  2. Open the software to write the micro SD
  3. Select "Operating System", among the option that appear click on “Use custom” and then search in your computer Easykon Lite for MyHome software that you downloaded (.zip file)
  4. Click on "SD Card", select the micro SD card that you put in the computer and press on "Write"
  5. Select "Yes" to start the writing
  6. At the end of this operation, put the micro SD card in the Raspberry Pi
  7. Connect the power supply to the micro USB connector and the RJ-45 cable to your Raspberry Pi

Check that the cabling is correct, if the Raspberry Pi has been powered correctly you will see the LED on the device turn on and you will be ready to configure your MyHome system.

Activation and configuration

Software activation

To work, Easykon Lite for MyHome needs to be activated first, this operation is done through Freedompro Cloud, a service that we offer to our customers free of charge.

Requirements:
  • Computer connected to internet
  • Compatible internet browser
  • Google or Facebook account
To activate Easykon Lite for MyHome:
  1. Access to the configuration interface writing "http://easykon-lite.local" in the address bar of you browser
  2. Click on “Sign in”
  3. Check to be connected to the internet and select “Activate”
  4. In Freedompro Cloud page, login with your Freedompro profile. If you don’t have one, don’t worry, clicking on “Continue with Google” or “Continue with Facebook” you will create it automatically
  5. Insert your Google or Facebook credentials
  6. Select “Back to configuration panel” and “Continue with the free version”

Congratulations! You correctly activate your Easykon Lite for MyHome. You have 7 days to test all the functionalities of our software on your MyHome system free of charge, then you can just buy a licence to use it forever.

MyHome system configuration

To find, identify and manage all system accessories, Easykon Lite for MyHome must be connected to a compatible BTicino MyHome gateway.

Easykon Lite for MyHome must be activated before connecting it with a compatible BTicino gateway.

To connect to the BTicino gateway and start the automatic configuration:
  1. Access to the configuration interface writing "http://easykon-lite.local" in the address bar of you browser
  2. Click on “Sign in”
  3. Select the gateway you want to connect
  4. Check that the gateway information is correct and click on “Connect” at the top right

If the connection to the Bticino gateway is successful, Easykon Lite for MyHome automatically identifies and configures all compatible MyHome accessories in a few seconds.

Can’t see some accessories in the list after automatic configuration? Wait a few minuted and reload the page or try manually control the accessory - Easykon will automatically add it to the list!

Make sure that the last version of the firmware is installed in the Bticino gateway before connecting Easykon Lite for MyHome.

Easykon Lite for MyHome assigns a default name (e.g. lightbulb 01) and automatically inserts the default characteristics for each accessory.

The types of Bticino MyHome actuators used to control light sources, outlets, switches and locks are automatically categorised as “Light” and the actuators used to control window coverings, doors, garage doors, gates and windows are categorised as “Window covering”.

To customise accessories:
  1. Go to Easykon Lite for MyHome interface
  2. Click on the “Identify” icon to find the device - the accessory you’ve selected will begin to move
  3. Enter the parameters by clicking on the button with the button with the 3 dots
  4. Change the name and/or characteristics required
  5. Click on “Save”

Easykon Lite for MyHome supports a maximum of 30 accessories. if your system has more of them, you will see the ones configured after the thirtieth disabled. Disable the accessories that you don’t want to control with Google, Amazon Alexa and IFTTT platforms and enable the others. If you need to manage more than 30 accessories you can install more than one Easykon Lite for MyHome on your plant or purchase Easykon for MyHome that supports a maximum of 149 accessories.

Pairing with Google, Amazon Alexa or IFTTT

Easykon Lite for MyHome is certified by Google and Amazon Alexa and it is compatible with IFTTT. This means you're free to choose the platform you prefer, or even use more than one at the same time.

Pairing with Google

  2. Press the "+" button and select "Configure device"
  3. Choose "Have something already set up?"
  4. Search for "Freedompro" among the services listed
  5. Use your Freedompro profile, logging in with Google or Facebook, to pair with Google Cloud

Pairing with Amazon Alexa

Easykon Lite for MyHome combined with Alexa's vocal applications (called skills) lets you add many functions to your MyHome system. Activate new features, make your home life more comfortable and automatic, and discover all the opportunities that home automation offers your system.

Follow these steps to control MyHome devices with Amazon Alexa:
  1. Open the Amazon Alexa app available for Android and iOS
  2. Click on the "Devices" icon in the menu below and select "Skill for smart home"
  3. Choose "Enable skill for smart home"
  4. Search for "Freedompro" among the services listed, and finally click on "Enable use"
  5. Use your Freedompro profile, logging in with Google or Facebook, to pair with the Amazon Alexa Cloud

Pairing with IFTTT

IFTTT is a free service that enables you to create automation applications using more than 600 different services. Its name derives from the acronym of “If This Then That” i.e. “If this happens, then perform that action”.

Users can create their own custom automation applications, called Applets, or use one or more already present on the platform. To create one from scratch, you must choose an initial trigger, i.e. the event that will activate the automation sequence and the action that must occur for the automation to proceed.

For example, if you set as trigger the turning on of the living room light and as action the turning off of the kitchen light, every time that the living room light will be turn on, then the one in the kitchen will turn off automatically.

By pairing Easykon Lite for MyHome with IFTTT, you can choose certain accessory categories mapped on the bridge, both as triggers and actions.

Requirements:
Follow these steps to pair IFTTT with the Freedompro service:
  1. Go to IFTTT site
  2. Login with your IFTTT account
  3. Click on "Explore" and search and select "Freedompro"
  4. Press on "Connect"
  5. Login with your Freedompro Cloud account
  6. Click on "Allow" to immediately start to create your automations

Once you have paired the Freedompro service, you will be able to choose among the accessories mapped inside your Easykon as triggers and actions and create any automation you want.
